The Federal Polytechnic, Offa came into existence in 1992. A presidential pronouncement for it?s establishment was made at the palace of His royal Highness Olofa of Offa; Oba Mustapha Olawoore Olanipekun Ariwajoye 11 by the then President Ibrahim Babangida during a state visit in 1991

In October 1994, the Kwara State Government gave an approval for the establishment of an educational initiative. This was the Effective Teaching and Learning Center, which was situated at the GRA, Ilorin. It?s dual objectives consisted the provision of complementary evening lessons to secondary school students and enabling assistance to credit deficient school learners.
